Caught in the act!

So this weekend we had another one of those "no nap" days and look what I caught on my camera as evidence! After seeing this, I have been a little freaked out about keeping him in there at all. So the room is rearranged, the bed is now up against the wall to hopefully give him less opportunities of getting out. Only 4 more days until the new bed gets here! Hopefully he will sleep safely all night in his new bed right!!!???!! Wishful thinking I know...

Check out my Slide Show!

Big boy bed is on it's way!

Aiden's new bed should be here by next Friday and we can't wait! I hope it makes him sleep better. As you can see, it's 4:39am and since I was up with him at 3:00am, I can't sleep anymore. I hope these sleepless nights are a phase he is going through and can get back on a normal schedule again! I miss my uninterrupted nights of sleep! If you want to check out the bed, go to www.youngamerica.stanleyfurniture.com - search for: Harbor Town Captains bed. Have a great weekend everyone!

"No, I a boy!"

This has been Aiden's response lately to the many questions we have been asking him such as: Are you a cool dude? or Are you a rock star? or Are you a cutie patutie? It is so darn cute to hear him say it and so amazing to me that he has grasped that concept!

Happy (Belated) Easter!

I hope everyone had a great Easter. Aiden really enjoyed coloring Easter eggs, making Easter Bunny cookies with mema Ellie (even though I think he ate more of the dough and frosting during the process!), and hunting for the Easter eggs at aunt Rachelle's house and eating the CANDY!

Aiden The Escape Artist

If you haven't already guessed by the title yet...Aiden got out of his crib today! Yes! I know, I thought we still had oh, maybe six more months or so (I was hoping anyway), before we had to move into the "big boy" bed. But, nope, that little stinker got out of there without me even knowing. This is what happened this afternoon:

I laid Aiden down for his nap around 2:00pm. He wasn't asleep, but was pretty tired due to not having taken a nap yesterday and already had had a full day of shopping and an Easter egg hunt. So, he looked sleepy when I left his room and didn't make a peep, so I figured he drifted right off to sleep. Shannon was gone getting his haircut, Poppi was taking a nap, the TV was off, and I was checking emails so the house was pretty quiet. Then I heard one of the doors upstairs being shut - it wasn't too loud, but loud enough for me to realize that it wasn't a "normal" noise an old house might make. (Side note: we don't close Aiden's bedroom door completely, but do pull it tight enough to where you can't peek in through a crack).

So my first instinct was instant panic and that there must be an intruder in our house! I never in a million years thought Aiden wasn't sleeping or would have crawled out of his bed. No, I always go straight for the intruder! So my heart is pounding, I'm shaking, thinking "what do I do"? Do I call Shannon? Do I call 911? So I run to the bottom of the stairs when I hear the bedroom door quietly opening. By now I am really freaked out! I grab the phone, thinking maybe I could poke the intruders eye out with the hard plastic 2" antennae thing on the end?!?! All I am really thinking, is Be Brave! I have to get my kid! (At this point, I seriously still thought someone might be upstairs!!). So as I am hurrying up the stairs, I then hear this little pitter patter of two small feet running across the hardwood floors. Only then do I finally put two and two together and realize that Aiden was not sleeping and got out of his crib! I open his bedroom door (still shaking from my previous thoughts, but also so relived that he is okay), and see my sweet little boy looking up at me with this sheepish grin and he says, "I get out bed" "my knee hurts" "I pooped".

So, yes he had pooped (we are working on potty training too), and he must have hurt his knee getting out of bed. So after the diaper change, we discussed how we have to stay in our bed to sleep, that it isn't safe to get out without mommy or daddy's help, etc. Blah blah blah blah is all he heard because I laid him back down and watched through the slight crack in his bedroom door after I left, and he tried to do it again! He just held onto the end of the bed, flung one leg up on the side and then I rushed in in disbelief and feared he really could hurt himself! So, this time he is either mad at me or embarrassed for getting caught, but he cries as I leave the room. I am thinking surely he is tired and will cry himself to sleep or wear himself out. Nope, he goes for a third time. This time I go in and just take him out realizing that today is going to be another "no nap" day.

So this afternoon we went furniture shopping for a "big boy" bed, but still haven't found one. Shannon and I can't believe how in the past four or five days our child has changed so quickly in front of our eyes. His sentences are so much clearer and have so much more purpose, he talks so much more, asks lots of questions, and is taller too!!! So, lets keep our fingers crossed that he will hopefully stay in his bed until we get the big boy bed ordered and delivered! Changes really seem to happen more quickly at this age and need more immediate attention sometimes.

This picture is from April 2007, almost one year ago already. Time really truly does go by so fast when you are having fun!!!

Go, Go, Go, Go, Go, Go, Go!

We have a new exercise routine at our house that happens almost every evening. Aiden loves to be chased all around the house. We start in the family room, go through the living room, through the dining room, through the kitchen, and back to the family room. But once is never enough! Oh no, we usually have to do this at least 10 times, usually more! And if Aiden slips and falls down (because we have all hardwood floors), he will get up and say, "I'm okay". If you try to stop and rest, Aiden will grab our hand and say, "Mommy up", "Mommy chase" or "Daddy up", "Daddy chase". What makes it even more interesting is when one of use will hide behind a corner, the chair, etc. Aiden then realizes one of us is gone and whoever isn't hiding has to look for them with him. One can really get their heart rate going by just go, go, go, going around the house! And Shannon thinks we need to buy a treadmill!

CaCa's Turn Now

Last Thursday in the car on the way to daycare, I started talking to Aiden about his friend Colin's (a.k.a. CaCa) birthday party on Saturday. We have had several birthday parties lately and I think Aiden is ready for it to be his birthday again. We talked about all the recent birthday's and Aiden says, "Aiden turn now". So I explained to him that he recently had a birthday too and it was Colin's birthday now. A short time passes by, and then Aiden says, "CaCa's turn now". He just sounded so sweet and sincere about it.

So we went to the birthday party on Saturday and Aiden spent most of the time playing in Colin's room with Colin's toys - many of the same toys that we already have at our house. But, for some reason, they are always more fun at someone else's house.

Here is a picture of Aiden and Colin from last summer! I know it's an older picture, but I just love it!
