**Note: I started this on 2/9/09 - I'm so far behind!!
We took Aiden to his first dentist appointment last Thursday. We had been reading the Bearenstein bears "Visit the Dentist" for about two weeks to prep him for the big day! The book was great, but I think Aiden thought he was going to have a cavity and a tooth pulled just like brother and sister bear in the book!
Once we got there, he sat right in the chair and waited so patiently. He got to watch a video about a monkey brushing and flossing his teeth. Then he got to wear some cool sunglasses while they looked at his teeth. The sunglasses are because the light they use to look in your mouth is so bright. I wonder why they don't offer that to us adults?!? I guess they have some cool kids sunglasses, but couldn't find them and that is why he had to wear these adult ones.
He got to pick out what flavor of polish he wanted, he chose vanilla. Then he let them polish, rinse, and dry his teeth! He did very well and I was so proud of him. He asked for a balloon (I think because brother and sister bear get one in the book). I don't know if the dentist just did this on the spot or if she always does this, but she blew up a latex glove for him and told Aiden it could be a turkey or a cow - depending on which way you held it!
