From Mama, to Mommy, to Mom

I thought it would be years ahead yet before I started getting called "mom" by Aiden. But he actually calls me "mom" all the time and I have to admit for as much as I miss the "mama" and "mommy" the way he says "hey mom" is so cute. But it is also scary at the same time. It makes me think of what he will sound like when he is say 9 or 10 or 15! Many people keep telling me how quickly they grow up, that their 14 year old seems like they were just 2, and I don't want to think about it. But with his vocabulary exploding like it is, he makes it hard for me not to. But it also makes me cherish every moment even more, knowing that these days do pass along so quickly.

On a side note...I apologize for my lack of writing and this will probably be my last post until next week. I have my annual fundraiser at work this Thursday, so have been working quite a bit of extra hours. Check back with me next week. I will try to recap some things from the past few weeks. Have a great week everyone.

The New Bed

With lots of frustration with Nebraska Furniture Mart last week, they finally "found" my bed and after receiving some credits from them, the bed is finally here, set up, crib is down, and with trying not to jinx anything - Aiden is sleeping pretty good in it. He loves his big boy bed - as he calls it. We have had to sing "No more monkeys jumping on the bed" lots of times in the past few days. We had a busy weekend, so a short post today. I will send out more pictures later in the week. Have a great week everyone.

p.s. Don't worry - he has some car bedding - it just hadn't been put on the bed yet! :)

Don't Even Ask!

After all my haggling with NFM this morning I finally got them to give me free delivery on the rest of Aiden's bed. This would have been great, but it wouldn't be until Thursday or Friday between 8am-5pm. If Shannon or I didn't have jobs to go to, this would have worked out fine, but that isn't the case with us. So I asked about Saturday, and I couldn't be guaranteed a time for this Saturday, so who knows when it would ever get delivered! So I found out the bed was on a truck somewhere at NFM, but it had not been unloaded and scanned into the warehouse today. So I said we would just pick it up tonight. They then offered to send me a courtesy letter giving me a credit for the amount of the delivery charge. So I thought I could live with that. I was told I would receive a phone call at work later in the day to confirm that we could pick it up tonight. So when I hadn't heard anything at 4:00pm, I called back to check on things. Well, the lady I spoke to this time, said it's on the truck, it just hasn't been unloaded yet, (blah blah blah) so sometime after 2pm tomorrow would be a great time to come by! I about fell off my chair!! I explained the whole story that I knew it was on a truck, and was told I could come by tonight. Oh no, she says, don't come until we call you, probably some time tomorrow! I am so frustrated with stupid Nebraska Furniture Mart, but here in Kansas City, it is pretty much our only affordable place to buy a nice piece of furniture. My hands are tied! So, I have no idea when this bed that we need so badly is ever going to get here. I don't know how much longer I can handle the climbing in, climbing out over the railings and the sleepless nights of Aiden not wanting to sleep in his bed. I know, this is probably only the beginning for us.

No New Bed Yet...

So we REALLY can't wait for the new "big boy" bed to arrive, because now Aiden is crawling into his bed!

To back track a little bit, Shannon and I show up at Nebraska Furniture Mart on Friday evening with our Element and Glenda's Trailblazer to pick up the bed and mattress. We thought this would save us some money in delivery charges and Shannon doesn't work too far from there anyway. We arrive around 6:30pm to find out that the bed is not in and won't be in until Monday! I of course was mad, but Shannon was the calm and collected one in front of me in his car doing all of the talking. No phone call or nothing from NFM, just an "oh, it won't be in until Monday. Didn't anyone call you?" Ummmmm no......So, I am getting over it, but will most definitely make a little phone call to customer service first thing tomorrow morning. But hey, we did get the mattress, slats, and side rails...couldn't do much with them except store them in our living room this weekend!

So, back to the crib situation, we did move the bed up against the wall so now he only has two escape routes instead of three with it coming out of the corner at an angle. And we have been keeping the side rail down all the time so if he does decide to crawl out again, he doesn't have as far to fall. I don't think he has actually crawled out again since last weekend, but today decided to crawl in! He has been climbing on everything lately and as he does it, says "I climbing". Whether it's into the bathtub, into his bed, up the kitchen cabinets, and today he tried to climb the fence in our backyard when he threw his ball over it! Maybe he will grow up to be some sort of extreme outdoor sports person??!!?? Who knows. So, we will let you know if the bed actually comes in tomorrow. I am sure there will be more stories to come!
